Now
This is a /now page, inspired by Derek Sivers. You should consider making your own! I keep a more complete list of my recently active projects here.
Derek just wrote a new post about these pages. I updated this page 2026-04-03 .
Writing... a bit more.
I'm trying to spend more time writing. I'm focused lately on telling some of the stories from 349 and building a coworking space here in Guelph. While I work on the stories, I am also building a new online home for this work.
You may recognize the domain name. If you like the project, let me know by signing up for the new email list there!
CloudFlare pages migration
I'm currently hosting most sites on a shared Dreamhost server. They keep jacking up my costs and I realized I'm not leveraging much of what's offered.
Over the past year, I've migrated most of my sites to be Pelican static websites for many reasons. I can't imagine going away from that anytime soon. That means I really don't need a webserver and can move to a serverless option, which is where CF Pages comes in.
I'm testing it with this site and this update, when it shows up, will mean that migration is complete since this update is only going to CF Pages.
If you're reading this update, the migration is complete! Now, onto the other whack of sites to move.
Medical Updates
A close family member was hospitalized this week with symptoms that looked like a bowel obstruction (severe vomiting and abdominal swelling). Doctors initially treated and investigated it that way and briefly considered inflammatory causes like Crohn’s.
Surgery was ultimately needed to determine the cause.
During the operation, surgeons discovered Meckel’s diverticulum, a congenital pouch in the small intestine that about 2% of people are born with but that rarely causes problems.
They removed it, and the bowel itself looked healthy (just inflamed from the episode), so the underlying issue should now be resolved.
About 2% of people are born with Meckel’s diverticulum, but only about 4–6% of those ever develop complications, meaning this kind of situation happens in roughly 1 in 800–1,200 people overall.
They are now recovering while their digestive system wakes back up after surgery.
New Protein bars
After watching this video, I was inspired to try making these protein bars. They were stellar first time around. The whole dipping in chocolate deal was a bit messy. The next batch, I simply poured a layer of chocolate over top, similar to nanaimo bars.
I've now made these a few times and they are really simple to make and so good. I'll post my version of the recipe, process at some point.
Work(aholic)
Honestly, I'm busy with work these days. I'm almost a year into a new gig at Vantage. It's more of a contributor role than I've had in a while and I'm loving that...but there's a lot to learn.
I like steep learning curves and I found myself a few here which I'm enjoying.
You should really consider joining me over here.
